High performance aluminium windows are able to meet or exceed energy efficiency standards. Aluminium windows and doors can easily achieve improvements in heat gain and heat loss through windows by 60% rivalling more expensive timber and uPVC equivalents. In the case of an average gas heated home in Melbourne, the use of aluminium double glazed windows delivers CO2E equivalent savings of almost three times that required to produce the aluminium frames, just within the first year.

Over the life of the building, energy savings outweigh the initial energy input by well over 100 times. For homes with electrical heating, or cooling for homes in hot climates, savings run into multiples of close to 300 times.

The corrosion resistant qualities of aluminium provide a low maintenance frame and is resistant to weathering under a range of harsh environmental conditions. Unlike many other materials, it will not swell, crack, split or warp over time; ensuring an extended product life.

Aluminium can be left in its finished condition. For additional protection or decorative finishes, aluminium can be anodised or painted.

Aluminium frames can be significantly less expensive than other framing options, providing a strong yet economical window and door solution, while also achieving excellent energy outcomes. The inherent strength and flexibility for aluminium to be manufactured to exacting specifications means you are limited only by your imagination. With an endless array of systems, finishes and glass options, aluminium offers a vast range of possibilities from the economical to most elaborate systems while also delivering excellent thermal performance.

Aluminium is the strongest and most durable material, easy to clean and maintain. Quality double and triple glazed aluminium doors are therefore the most expensive choice in the door market. Aluminium doors are often used for commercial properties and retail facilities. Nevertheless, they are also extremely well suited for residential properties. High-end aluminium doors can be built in large sizes in a variety of shapes, types and configurations. Precision manufactured aluminium (extrusion) profiles are anodised, then powder-coated to your liking and design approach in every colour (pantone or RAL). High quality aluminium door frames provide good properties; their acoustic and thermal properties however, are not quite comparable to uPVC and timber door framing.

Double and triple glazed aluminium doors are especially the right choice for large glazing units or glass fronts in your home or business. Due to the strength and durability of the material, your options are indefinite.

In the special configuration of flush-fitted glazing in the frame, the glass pane is suspended mechanically but not visibly by point locking in the rebate. This creates the smooth and attractive appearance many architects integrate in the design of high-end residential and commercial buildings.

The rather high price of aluminium products is a result of increasing raw material prices due to higher demand on international markets. Therefore, double and triple glazed aluminium doors are more expensive than uPVC and timber doors.

Aluminium doors differentiate by their frame thickness, quality and stability as well as thermal and acoustic properties. This means the main factor is thickness of the external frame as well as the door leaf/ panel, which holds the glass unit. Broadly speaking, increased thickness of framing and glazing panel will improve thermal properties and all other properties above. High quality aluminium doors come in a variety of frame thicknesses of up to 117 mm. s

Aluminium Cladding

Supply & Installation of Aluminium Cladding

Cladding is the application of one material over another to provide a skin or layer. In construction, cladding is used to provide a degree of thermal insulation and weather resistance, and to improve the appearance of buildings.[1] Cladding can be made of any of a wide range of materials including wood, metal, brick, vinyl, and composite materials that can include aluminium, wood, blends of cement and recycled polystyrene, wheat/rice straw fibres.[2] Rainscreen cladding is a form of weather cladding designed to protect against the elements, but also offers thermal insulation. The cladding does not itself need to be waterproof, merely a control element: it may serve only to direct water or wind safely away in order to control run-off and prevent its infiltration into the building structure. Cladding may also be a control element for noise, either entering or escaping. Cladding can become a fire risk by design or material.

Aluminium makes up more than 8% of the Earth’s core mass and is the most widespread metal. It is also the third most common chemical element after oxygen and silicon. It is the 13 element on the Periodic Table and has a silvery-white appearance.

Pure aluminium does not occur in nature because it binds very easily with other elements. It is because of this that aluminium was only discovered in the 19th century when scientists were able to break down chemical compounds into their elements.

Because of the high costs of the extraction process, it wasn't until the late 19th century that it was possible to produce aluminium on an industrial scale for use in construction and other industries.

Glass Doors

Supply & Installation of Glass Doors

Frameless glass doors and windows have come a long way from their hand-blown, lead-framed crown glass origins. This modern, seamless version can add a unique aesthetic and a variety of benefits to buildings. While the commercial application of frameless glass is the hallmark of Apple stores, frameless glass doors and windows are also popular in residential construction, office buildings and educational settings.

Without cumbersome frames and attachments, frameless glass windows and doors offer unobstructed views. Whether the coveted view is of the sparkling ocean, a lush garden, or children playing, frameless glass doors and windows are available for interior and exterior use. They have all the benefits of an open space, combined with protection from the elements and soundproofing. Less framework means more light, both direct and indirect.

According to Architectural Lighting Magazine, this is referred to as daylighting, “...the use of natural light, be it brilliant sunlight or muted overcast light, to support the visual demands of building occupants.”

Daylighting helps regulate indoor temperature and reduce the need for artificial lighting. The modern workplace has open plan spaces, with frameless glass windows and doors often replacing solid walls. This increases the adaptability of the space, allowing more people to fit into less space without feeling crowded. An office or conference room can be opened or closed depending on the type of space needed. Glass doors and windows can also provide work surfaces, substituting for whiteboards and bulletin boards.

Collaboration and communication are enhanced with frameless glass in the workplace. Instead of sequestering staff in a solid walled-off cubicle or office, glass makes work visible and encourages interaction, the opposite of “out of sight, out of mind.” Even people who need a quiet, soundproof space can still have a view of their peers or the outdoors.

A study at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology discovered that people who work in buildings where they are exposed to natural daylight feel more energetic than those working in environments with artificial lighting. Other research shows increased productivity and feelings of well-being when windows increase exposure to sunlight and views of the outdoors. Daylighting is also found to decrease illness and absences in the workplace.
